The structural column in the center of the space created a challenge for the designers. However, the team at Azaz Architects embraced it, transforming it into the center point of its design.”

“Working to safeguard palm frond weaving, a craft native to the Eastern Provinces of Saudi Arabia, Sa’af is the brainchild of Saudi-based Azaz Architects and a research-led project that is working directly with craftspeople to develop innovative textiles and experiment with their application. The pavilion, which comprises different styles mixing colour, scale and texture woven within a giant suspended surface, is designed to maximize interaction with both the inner and outer skins of the textiles.”
